Save The Garden

6 July 2009 One Comment Written by: Bryan Moats

Okay, not literally. I’m referring to a post I made a little while back about wanting to see The Garden, the documentary about the enormous community garden plot in South Central Los Angeles. I haven’t see it yet, but saw today that it is available to “Save” on Netflix, meaning that it isn’t available yet, but that I can get it when it is. So I saved it.

Just doing my part.

Save The Garden on Netflix. Get it in your queue.

If you would like to know the current status of the South Central Farm, here are a few things I plucked from Wikipedia.

  • The City of Los Angeles has provided 7.8 acres (32,000 m2) of land at an alternate site, which some of the farmers have relocated to and begun cultivating. While the city has offered this land, only 3 acres (12,000 m2) have actually been made available to the community, and those are located under high voltage power lines. [14]
  • The SCF continues to hold nightly vigils which typically start at 7pm.
  • The appeal of Judge Bendix’ decision is still pending.
