Romeo’s Law Passes!
I’m a little tardy in getting this exciting update posted, but better late than never. A big thank you to everybody who called, wrote letters and emails and spread the word, an effort that lead to the animal torture bill to pass. The law was signed into effect by Governor Beshear on Monday, May the 28th after having passed 90 – 0 in the house and 31 – 2 in the senate. An especially big thanks to the governor and those who gave it such a strong voice in both the house and senate. Kentucky is now not so ridiculously far behind in animal rights legislation.
I’ve gathered HB 58 made it to law a little picked at and modified compared to how it was originally written but not as watered down as it could have been, still strict enough to make a difference.

I am curious whether or not it will ever be a felony to poison someone else’s dogs.
My registered male Doberman Pinscher was just poisoned a few weeks ago.
To make a long story short, he pulled through but had a relapse and we had to let him go this morning.
Kentucky’s Animal Cruelty laws are sadly lacking when it comes to something like this.
I am very angry that this happened on our own home property, our sanctuary, and someone can just throw poisoned meat over the 8ft privacy fence and get away with it.
The sheriff reluctantly logged the incident with dispatch but when I tried to talk to him earlier this week he was too busy.
Bottom line, something needs to be done.
unfortunately that should have been punished under Romeo’s law however the Good ole boys of Kentucky only prosecute whats important to them, Kentucky acording to aldf is the worst state on in the nation for animal abuse laws, we have Romeo’s law now but I have never seen it used, no matter how brutal the animal attack has been. this state needs to disapear off the map, too backwoods to even partipate in the rest of the Nation, I am so sorry I made the mistate of moving here without doing my homework are you aware there are no felony laws in place for the horse only a waiting slaugtherhouse. thats gov beshear at work. hillybilly bob I call him
