Recycling at WKU
If this is your first time here, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed. You may also want to checkout our list of organizations and books if you want to learn more about what this site is about.
Here’s some information about recycling at WKU. This first part is the content of a recent email sent out to faculty and staff on campus. A lot of people have worked very hard to get WKU decision makers to make recycling a higher priority. So it is important that we celebrate and utilize the arrival of expanded recycling abilities on campus.
Dear Campus Community,
Now that we have our new multi-sectioned bin (located behind Service and Supply at the corner of Russellville Road and University Blvd.), we wanted to provide some guidelines for using it, to ensure that our recyclables are properly processed.
The bin has compartments for mixed paper, plastic bottles, and glass. Nearby is a bin for aluminum.
1. MIXED PAPER - this includes office paper, newspaper, and brochure-type paper.
-Paper must loose in bin - NO PLASTIC BAGS please!
-Please NO phone books, catalogs, or cardboard.
*If you have phone books, catalogs, or cardboard that has been generated on campus, WKU Recycling will pick these items up at your building and recycle them properly. Please contact us at recycling@wku.edu for special pick-ups.
2. PLASTIC - This is #1 and #2 bottles ONLY.
- Plastic bottles must be loose in bin - NO PLASTIC BAGS please!
- Please make sure bottles are EMPTY, so that we do not attract critters to our recycling bin.
3. GLASS - there are sections for clear, brown, and green glass.
- Please make sure containers are EMPTY.
4. ALUMINUM may be placed in the ‘Drive to a Million’ bin located near the red, multi-sectioned bin.
These guidelines will be posted on the WKU Recycling website at www.wku.edu/recycling. Thank you for recycling. We hope the new bin makes your recycling efforts easier! Please contact us with any questions at recycling@wku.edu.
Thank you,
WKU Recycling
