R.I.P. Plenty Magazine

3 August 2009 No Comment Written by: Bryan Moats

Today I learnt about Plenty Magazine’s untimely passing. I had always planned on subscribing. I regret it now. I thought I’d written something about Plenty Magazine before on the BSB Blog, but after a short search it’s clear that I haven’t. I used to purchase Plenty at Hastings here in Russellville, but I hadn’t noticed it in a while.  Now I know why.

It was a pleasure to read for it’s focus on optimism and solutions-inspired approach to technology and culture. Occasionally they would run something that pushed the envelope on what they chose to present as pertinent, like their cover story once asking who is “greener”, men or women. (An interesting question over a few beers, but hardly cover story material if you ask me.) Otherwise, it was a great, but brief, publication.

For those of you who didn’t know about Plenty, I encourage you to take a look at what is left. It’s okay, they’ve cleaned up the mess. You can read many of Plenty’s articles still at the Mother Nature Network. They were able to work with Plenty in keeping much of its content online and accessible. Forward thinking in online publishing! God bless the internet, right?

The entire reason I looked into it in the first place was because I came across this video created by Plenty about the history of oil propaganda and thought many of you would be interested. Enjoy!
