Governor Fletcher and House Speaker Jody Richards have struck a deal to pass a massive package of new subsidies for the coal industry, including $300 million for Peabody Energy, the world’s largest coal company. A “Special Interest Session” is expected to start on August 13th.
Join KFTC and our allies in saying NO to taxpayer subsidies for coal!
1. Rally in the Capitol Rotunda in Frankfort on Monday August 13 at 2:30pm! If possible, plan to spend the whole day in Frankfort. KFTC has reserved Room 125 of the Annex from noon to 2pm for peopl to gather and get informed for effective lobbying. At 2:30 pm we will gather in the Capitol Rotunda for a rally. Be sure to check www.kftc.org or call 606-878-2161 for the latest information, since the legislative schedule is bound to change. Children are welcome.
Please call if you need transportation.
2. Contact your legislators at 1-800-372-7181. Message: “Please say NO to public subsidies for Peabody Energy and coal conversion. Don’t subsidize destruction. Invest in clean, renewable energy.”
