Patchen on the banks of the Arkansas River

There is legislation, SB 58 (Romeo’s Law), that may vote today if speaker Jody Richards will let it be seen. The bill will make it a felony to torture dogs or cats. It sounds like Jody Richards is reluctant to present it because our jails are already so full. I don’t know if it sounds like this to others, but that sounds a little like admitting that it should be a felony, but we just don’t have the political will to commit ourselves to that notion and see animal rights taken seriously in Kentucky legislation.

If it does not go to vote or fails today, that doesn’t mean it’s over. Take these action steps anyway:

Call (and keep calling) and leave a message for all the legislators to support SB 58 - felony for torture of dog/cat!

1-800-372-7181

Please keep calling.

If you know who your legislator is also leave a direct message at 502-564-8100.

Thanks!
