It’s no Trader Joe’s, but that’s probably a good thing. The Nutrition Center on the 31W Bypass will also prove to be an important destination in your Earth Day excursions. If you’re unfamiliar, nobody does “small health food store” better than the cool folks at the Nutrition Center. Open from 9am to 7pm this Earth Day, the Nutrition Center will be giving away Red Oak trees to the first 100 customers. (The Red Oak is an important native tree to Kentucky as it is threatened by the common Red Oak Borer. Drought, forest fires, and damage done by mountaintop removal mining have all contributed to a less diverse ecosystem in Kentucky, thus making the Red Oak and other oaks an easier target for the borer.) They’ll also be giving out gift bag prizes, samples, tips, demonstrations, tons of discounts and who knows what else. They have also recently instated a new discount rewards program. Just one more reason to shop there. They are located at 715 US 31W Bypass. The number is 270-846-1882.
There’s your day! Have fun. (By the way, you can get to any of these places by riding GO BG Transit for free on Earth Day.)
