My registered male Doberman Pinscher was just poisoned a few weeks ago. To make a long story short, he pulled through but had a relapse and we had to let him go this morning. Kentucky's Animal Cruelty laws are sadly lacking when it comes to something like this. I am very angry that this happened on our own home property, our sanctuary, and someone can just throw poisoned meat over the 8ft privacy fence and get away with it. The sheriff reluctantly logged the incident with dispatch but when I tried to talk to him earlier this week he was too busy. Bottom line, something needs to be done. I am curious whether or not it will ever be a felony to poison someone else’s dogs.

With that promotion came a pay raise. And wouldn't you know it, I am proportionately more interested in birds for some reason. It's true. I'm even thinking of buying a field guide in addition to a bag of seeds. But I may have to wait for my big bonus to get that curious. However, now that I pay more taxes, shell out more for insurance and have children to start providing for, I feel somehow less <em>interested</em> in squirrels, air quality and butterfly migration.
