I’m talking about the obvious lack of action taken by me on Blog Action Day, which was now almost two months ago. But worse, to me, is the problem of feeling and admitting a recent short-coming and then still doing nothing. So here’s my post. Governor Fletcher and House Speaker Jody Richards have struck a deal to pass a massive package of new subsidies for the coal industry, including $300 million for Peabody Energy, the world’s largest coal company. A “Special Interest Session” is expected to start on August 13th.
Join KFTC and our allies in saying NO to taxpayer subsidies for coal!

When I arrived home from work yesterday, I found that one of my tomato plants, the one that is now officially taller than me, had fallen over from growing well above its wire cage. For some reason, there were absolutely no long stringy (rope, twine, string, etc.) things in my house yesterday. None. Zilch. Absolutely nothing I could tie up a tomato plant with. I had also run out of padded 9″x12″ envelopes with which to send things through the mail in. In addition, I had been meaning to ...

I just got done reading a great article by Don Fitz at ZNet.comwith a sort of checklist of “It ain’t green if…” observations about green building. I’m not convinced that I agree with every item one-hundred percent, but I do agree with the wide premise of the article, that as with everything that comes with the promise of being green, organic, natural, and eco-friendly, it is important to scratch the surface and see what is really going on.

Fitz has done a good job of stepping back from all the ...

What with there being no rain (in this part of Kentucky) for the last, I don’t know, month or more, things are beginning to dry up. For most large establishments, like universities, malls and government agencies, this means it’s time to fight the unsightly problem in the best way they know how. Tons of water sprayed ambitiously across the campus as though even the sidewalks were thirsty.
However, since it became apparent that Warren County and it’s neighbors are suffering from “severe to mild” drought, I am proud to say ...

Kimberly-Clark is, according to the Kleercut website, the largest tissue product company in the world. A very short list of their brands are ...
