The long awaited BG Skatepark is opening bright and early tomorrow morning. I will be there. I will not, however, have my board with me. That’s because I no longer have one. The last board I had was a Birdhouse deck. I can’t find an image of it anywhere. It had a drunk penguin on it. That’s about all I can recall. And my first board was a…Veretta? Vendetta? Whatever Marty McFly skated on in Back to the Future. What was the damn name of that board? Someone help me out.

Anyway, in my search for images of both of my boards I came across this video which made me smile. Listen to Gary Lumpkin there be very elementary about the whole half-pipe. It’s like he’s introducing physics to pre-schoolers. It’s awesome. My favorite is, “You can go along one edge like that. You can kind of pause at the top. You can grab your skateboard with one hand. You can do all kinds of things, you can pause, there you go, you can actually…there’s just really no, uh - a lot of air, that’s what they really like to do - and see how much height they can get.”
