A Convenient Arsaga’s Truth

8 July 2006 No Comment Written by: Bryan Moats

inconvenientatarsagas.jpgMost of us who live around Fayetteville and consume a substantial amount of coffee, tea or juice (or is that just me?) go to Arsaga’s at least once a week. And for good reason. The coffee is great, and even better now that they are roasting it themselves. The atmosphere is always great and you’re likely to meet at least one person you know (or is that just me, too?) I’m especially fond of the random and sometimes brilliantly juvenile – in a good way, seriously – philisophical blurbs on the bathroom chalkboard. I even had the pleasure of working for Arsaga’s at one time, both behind the counter and at the drawing board/computer.

And to top it all off they are now offering free drinks to anybody who brings in their ticket stub from An Inconvenient Truth. So, if you haven’t already seen the movie and lost your ticket stubs, go see the movie and then get a free Arsagaccino. Or if you’re me, get an iced Breve with an extra shot of espresso. Oh, man…okay.

And regardless, if you haven’t any taste whatsoever for coffee, tea or juice (get your tongue checked) see the movie anyway. Don’t make this your “I’ll wait until it comes out on DVD” movie.

Furthermore! If you have absolutely no desire to see the movie but sure could go for a cup of coffee, it is coming time for you to make a decision. Starbucks or Arsaga’s? Yes, Starbucks (Fayetteville’s first) is moving in on North College Blvd. It was only a matter of time. In my view it is always better to buy local if you can. I have somewhat high regards for Starbucks’ way of doing business. They are a responsible and fair company as far as employee relations and sustainability go, especially for their size. Nonetheless, Starbucks doesn’t live here. Arsaga’s, La Maison des Tartes, Baba Boudan’s and Common Grounds do. I’d rather my dollar land in their pocket than in Starbucks’.
