If all goes well according to the proposed scheme, 6.3 hectares of depleted agricultural soil in Sub-Saharan Africa will be resuscitated in a five year plan announced by the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa. The plan to restore the soil’s fertility is due in part to a $164.5 million grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation and $15 million from the always helpful Rockefeller Foundation.
